Welcome! Inspiration for the projects I create come from everywhere. Some are inspired by conversations, some are inspired by the beauty of nature and some, like this project are inspired by people. Mom’s usually get praise year around while dad’s are kind of forgotten hero’s.
I remember lots of wonderful things about my dad. When I was a little girl I remember him getting donuts for us on Sunday’s. He helped me fall in love with pastrami. In my late teens he helped guide me spiritually (we were baptized on the same day). As I grew into an adult he bailed me out financially (he helped me get my car repaired more than once). When I had my daughter and son, he loved on them like they were his own teaching them valuable life lessons until he passed away in 2011.
This card is for all the dad’s out there. In case you didn’t know, you are great, you are special and most of all YOU ARE LOVED!
With that being said, let’s dive in.

This card starts with this wonderful stamp set; Best Dad from Altenew. My initial thought was to use some of the sentiments from the stamp set to create a background. I chose You are my hero, You are my inspiration and everyday is fathers day.
I stamped each of the three sentiments on to a 4 1/4 in x 5 1/2 in piece of Neenah Desert Storm 80 lb card stock.
Once the sentiments were stamped, I decided that I wasn’t quite happy with how it turned out. The alignment was off and the idea that I had in my head (one of literally a million) didn’t translate very well.
After giving it some thought, I decided that I could salvage the card stock by using it to die cut letters.
After die cutting I used a honeycomb pattern embossing folder to emboss a pattern on to a 4 in x 5 1/4 in piece of Neenah 80 lb card stock (later mounted on 4 /14 in x 5 1/2 in piece of Neenah Desert Storm 100 lb) .
Next up I stamped this adorable Best Dad cup onto a scrap piece of card stock with Altenew Permanent Black ink. I then added color wit CaliArt artist markers (Yellow Ochre and Praline).
After using the corresponding die to cut out the cup, I placed it along with the die cut letters on to the honeycomb pattern card front. The card still looked a bit flat so I decided to add Nuvo Crystal Glaze to the letters and the cup. The crystal glaze added additional dimension and a bit of shine to the card.
That’s it folks! A simple card for the dad’s out there. Thank you for all you do, EVERYDAY!
Thank for stopping by and as always don’t forget to spread kindness! – Ouma
