Welcome! This project was inspired by the wonderful world of insects. I know it sounds weird, but when you think about it insects are some of the most marvelous creatures on the planet.
I’ve always had an affinity towards butterflies. Their life journey (although considerably shorter) is not much different than ours. They start off as plain little creatures. Then there is a period where they go into a cocoon (kind of like being a teenager). When they emerge, they are beautiful individuals full of color and purpose.
Let’s get started!

This means I get paid a small commission when you shop with a company using a link I provide. I am not paid by any company to use their products (all products used in my posts have been purchased – by me) and should this ever happen, I will disclose that in a specific post.
I started by selecting the large butterfly outline from the Altenew Painted Butterfly Stamp set.
The stamp was applied to an acrylic block and inked with Altenew Permanent Black Ink. The images were stamped in a random pattern onto a 4 1/4 in x 5 1/2 piece of Neenah Classic Crest 110 lb (top folding card).
Next up – choosing how to add a small amount of color that would not overshadow the simple elegance of the butterfly outline. I chose a complimentary pattern from this Altenew Paper Pack.
The paper was trimmed down, adhered to a strip of Neenah Desert Storm card-stock. Those strips were then layered on top of a strip of black card-stock and placed onto the stamped card front.
I chose the “Just Saying Hello” sentiment from the same stamp set and stamped it on to a strip of Neenah Desert Storm card-stock. The card-stock was then cut down using a banner sentiment strip die.
The final step was to place the strip onto the card. I love how the patterned paper adds a subtle amount of color but does not overshadow the stamped butterflies.
Thanks for stopping by and as always don’t forget to spread kindness. – Ouma
