Waves of Green

December 27, 2018

Hello there!! I’m so happy that you’ve stopped by.

I’d love to say that this project was inspired by something else, but it is absolutely, completely, totally inspired by my grandson getting sick and my dealing with a nasty case of bronchitis (since mid November). I have done enough coughing etc., to last an entire lifetime. To be honest I am seriously ready to be 100% again. Having said that, this card is for everyone out there battling illnesses of all kinds. I hope healing comes soon.

Let’s get started!

This blog contains paid advertising banners and affiliate links. Banners and affiliate links may be used at no additional cost to you. This means I get paid a small commission when you shop with a company using a link I provide. I am not paid by any company to use their products (all products used in my posts have been purchased – by me) and should this ever happen, I will disclose that in a specific post.

The Bamboo Rose Stamp set by Altenew is gorgeous and perfect for the theme of this card.

I don’t have very many stencils in my craft stash, but of the ones that I do have the Large Waves stencil by KITE is my FAVORITE!

I started by taping the stencil to a 4 in x 5 1/4 inch piece of Neenah Classic Crest 110 lb card-stock. I wanted to make sure that the stencil was secure and wasn’t going to move around once I applied pressure with my mini ink blending tool.

I applied Altenew Frayed Leaf ink with a mini ink blending tool, varying the amount of pressure to give the illusion of multiple shades of green.

I used a stitched circle die to cut out a window, slightly offsite to the right. I also used a corner rounder on all four edges.

The flowers and butterflies were stamped using acrylic blocks and Altenew Permanent Black ink. I added color to them with Altenew Artist Markers from the Green Fields (Frayed Leaf) and Cool Summer Night (Ocean Waves and Dusk) and Anise (902) from Caliart.

To finish the card, I placed the larger portion of the stenciled panel on the card base and carefully traced around the circle with pencil.

The circle cutout was glued flush with the card base using Gina K Connect Glue (awesome strong adhesive). A ton (seriously) of foam tape was added to the back of the stenciled panel and adhered it to the card base taking great care to ensure all of the waves were properly aligned.

The “feel better soon” sentiment was added along with two of the stamped butterflies and the blue flower for contrast. The final touch was adding a few clear sequins.

Thanks for stopping by! Don’t forget to spread kindness. – Ouma
