Fun Florals

August 22, 2019

Hello and Happy Thursday! I can’t believe it is already Thursday AND the almost the end of August. Time is flying by so quickly these days. I kind of wish I could slow things down a bit.

Last Friday I received Happy Mail from Altenew. Included in my Happy Mail were stamps from the August 2019 Release plus a set I caught on sale (WINNING). Today, I am bringing you a couple of examples of cards I made using my new stamps. I also have a short video showing how I add color to my stamped images using Altenew Artist Markers.

Today’s cards feature stamps from Altenew’s Best Mom, Just Because Builder and Dot Art Stamp Sets. Without further ado here we go!

The first card was created by stamping the floral image from the Best Mom Stamp Set three times onto white cardstock. After stamping the images using Altenew Obsidian Black Ink, they are embossed using Altenew Clear Embossing Powder.

Next, color was added to each of the floral images using Altenew Artist Markers. The floral images were then die cut.

I used a blending brush to add color to a 4 1/4 in x 5 1/2 in piece of cardstock. The three die cut floral images were then added using strong adhesive. I then stamped the half circle image from the Dot Art Stamp set on the top left. Foam tape was added to the back of the panel and it was placed on a top folding A2 notecard. The Just Because sentiment was pulled from the stamp set with the same name. Clear Embossing ink was used to stamp the image. White Embossing Powder was added and the image was heat set. The final step was adding foam tape to the back and placing the sentiment in the center of the stamped circle.

My second card features images from Altenew’s Dot Art Stamp Set. This card came together fairly quickly. I started by stamping the lined images in the bottom left and top right hand corners. This was super simple because I used my Misti Stamp Platform. I stamped one corner, flipped and stamped again. Easy Peasy. Next, I stamped the large and small floral images included in the set. After stamping the floral images I added a bit of color by stamping the circular images (also from the set) using Altenew’s Frayed Leaf and Forest Glades Ink.

Next I trimmed the stamped panel, added foam tape to the back and placed it on top of a top folding A2 notecard. The last step was to stamp the sentiment onto a scrap piece of cardstock. Strong adhesive was added to the strip a which was then placed on the card.

The third and final card also features the beautiful floral image from the Best Mom Stamp Set. This card also came together quite quickly. I started by stamping the floral image onto a piece of white cardstock. As shown in the video below, the image was heat embossed and color was added using Altenew Artist Markers.

After adding color, the image was die cut using the coordinating die (two times). The die cut images were glued together using strong adhesive. A mat was then cut from white cardstock. Foam tape was placed on the back of the mat. Prior to securing the mat to the top folding notecard, a sentiment from the set was stamped. The mat was secured to the top folding notecard and the die cut floral image was placed on top of the mat (securing with strong adhesive).

That’s it! I love how these cards turned out and I can’t wait to play around with these sets some more. Thank you so much for stopping by. I hope that you have seen something here that sparks your creativity. Until next time. Don’t forget to spread kindness! – Ouma
