One Cut File – Three Different Applications!

November 11, 2020

Hello There! It’s Ouma and I am back with with my first HOLIDAY themed post for the season. I am super excited about this post because it combines a technique that is (or was) new to me. On top of that, I used ONE SVG file to create just about everything you see here!! Here’s how I did it.

This blog contains paid advertising banners and affiliate links (Shopping/Affiliate Disclosure).  Banners and affiliate links may be used at no additional cost to you.  This means that I may get paid a small commission when you shop with a company using a link I provide.

I am not paid by any company to use their products (all products used in my posts have been purchased – by me) and should this ever happen, I will disclose that in a specific post.

I am always looking for new things to try and things to by (I am a CRAFT-O-HOLIC). One day I was looking for ideas for Cricut Infusible Ink and came across this video. Prior to seeing it I had no idea that Cricut’s Infusible Ink could be used in this manner. Once I saw the video, I searched Amazon and found mugs and silicone wraps. I already had Cricut coasters (linked below) and Infusible Ink.

The next step was choosing a design. Let me tell you, that was probably that hardest part. I have thousands of designs saved on Cricut Design Space. The one I settled on I purchased in a Christmas Bundle last year from DesignBundles.Net. This is one of the best sites I have found for SVG’s and other files. They have great deals and there are tons of perks (freebies) if you end up purchasing a membership.

Once I settled on the design, I rolled out Black and Buffalo Plaid Infusible Ink sheets on to my extra long cutting mat, loaded them into my Maker, watched the magic happen and then weeded. Following the instructions from the YouTube Video (linked above), I placed my image on the cup. I made sure to secure it with heat resistant tape before placing the silicone wrap around it and placing it into the oven.

While the cup baked I followed a similar process with the coaster except I used my Cricut Easy Press 2 to add the image.

As you can see the images transferred perfectly. This design can be used with a variety of colors. The only limit here is your imagination.

After completing the cup and the coaster I thought it would be nice to have a matching card (great idea for a Christmas Gift). I didn’t have any matching paper to create my reindeer so I created my own using Cranberry cardstock and the Woven Stripes Background stamp – both from Concord & 9th (linked below). After stamping the striped pattern I used the same cut file that was used for the cup and coaster, but this time I only cut the reindeer. I cut the image five times (once with the stripe and four times in plain red).

For my card base I used the standard A2 size (4 1/4 x 5 1/2). Next I used layering dies to cut mats in Black and White. I stacked the five reindeer images (using strong adhesive) and let dry while I stamped a simple Merry Christmas sentiment and secured the mats to the base (I added foam tape to the back of the black mat for dimension).

Side Note – the sentiment is from an old stamp set (Nice & Naughty Elves) that I purchased from Simon Says Stamps. I don’t believe it’s available anymore.

The final touch was to place a thin strip of cardstock across the from and attache the reindeer.

There you have it. I must say that I am pretty pleased at how this set turned out. I see more in my future!

Thank you so much for stopping by. I hope that you have seen something here that inspires you to create your own little work of art. Until next time, don’t forget to spread kindness! – Ouma
