Adorable Handbags and Sunglasses Using Concord & 9th’s Weekender Handbag and Everyday PurseBuilder Stamp and Die Sets

January 10, 2021

Hello and HAPPY NEW YEAR! Ouma here and I coming to you today with a little something different. I mentioned in a previous post that I am a CRAFT-O-HOLIC! I try to keep my fingers off of that shop/purchase/buy button but sometimes I fall short.

This blog contains paid advertising banners and affiliate links (Shopping/Affiliate Disclosure).  Banners and affiliate links may be used at no additional cost to you.  This means that I may get paid a small commission when you shop with a company using a link I provide.

I am not paid by any company to use their products (all products used in my posts have been purchased – by me) and should this ever happen, I will disclose that in a specific post.

Well, this post illustrates another time I fell short (LOL) but quite frankly I am happy about this one. When I saw Concord & 9th’s December 2020 Product Release, I knew that I was in trouble.

I am a purse lover! I love purses almost as I love crafting so when I saw the Weekender Handbag Bundle (part of the December Release), I knew that I had to have it. I saw (and see) so many possibilities for this set. That for me is extremely important and is one of the things that is in the front of my mind when I purchase; how many ways can I use this one item and make it worth the cost. With that in mind, today I bring you an example of a card I created using the Bright Eyes Bundle from the December Release plus examples of purses I created using the Weekender Handbag Bundle and Everyday Purse Bundle (from a previous release).

I see these being used as table decorations, individual gifts, for baby showers, bridal showers and more! Here’s what I came up with for my first go around. Like I always say, your only limit is your imagination. TRUST ME there will be more to come!

Today’s card features the Bright Eyes Bundle from Concord & 9th. I started building this card by creating a top folding A2 card using heavy white card stock. I knew that I had to incorporate the sun somehow so I dug in my stash and found a stencil that I knew would be perfect.

To create the background, I placed a piece of heavy white card stock stamp platform and stenciled using colors from a mini cube ink set (all four colors). After stenciling, I cut the background down using an A2 Layer Die (the black cardstock was cut using the sam set) and added a bit of sparkle using a Wink of Stella brush pen.

Next I die cut a large circle and stamped one of the sentiments from the Bright Eyes Bundle using Poppy Ink. I die cut the outline of the shades from Poppy Cardstock and the lenses from black card stock. After everything was cut, I adhered the black background to the card base using strong adhesive. I added placed the circle die and sun glasses on top of the stenciled background (also using strong adhesive), added foam tape to the back and then placed the entire piece onto the black background.

I decided that the card had to have a purse to match so I used the everyday purse bundle to create one. I’m including a link to a video (the one I followed) that provides step by step instructions on how to put this set together. I used Wheat and Poppy Colored card stock to create the majority of the purse and Frosted Silver mirror Card stock for the accents. The design was created using a gingham background stamp.

I love the way these pair together!

Here’s an example of a purse I created using the Weekender Bundle! I used Oceanside Card Stock and ink to create this look. The design was created using striped background stamp. Check out this video (the one I followed) for step by step instructions on putting this bag together.

Another example of a bag created using the Weekender Bundle. Here I used Aqua Sky Ink and Card Stock and striped background stamp.

In this example I used a shimmery copper card stock that I had in my stash and Polished Gold Mirror Card Stock for the accents. The jump ring holding the key is real wire. The background was created using the Patterned Lanterns Bold Prints Background Stamp from Hero Arts (I don’t think it is available anymore).

This final example uses a navy blue patterned card stock that I had in my stash. I love the way this turned out. It shows how truly versatile these die sets are.

There you have it. I hope you enjoyed this post. I know that I thoroughly enjoyed creating everything that you see. Thank you so much for stopping by. I hope that you have seen something here that inspires you to create your own little work of art. Until next time, don’t forget to spread kindness! – Ouma
